Well, I saw Cloverfield tonight, I will be discussing the movie and I'll try to answer any questions. First off, THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS! So if you don't want to know about it, just stop reading now. I'll go through the main points of the movie then say what I think of it at the end.

This movie was set in Manhattan, and the whole movie is shot through a video camera like the Blair Witch Project. The main characters were Hud (He was the guy with the camera pretty much the whole movie) Rob (Main character besides Hunt, going to Japan for his job) Lily (Black chick throwing a going away party for Rob) Beth (Good friend of Rob, had sex with eachother and they're kinda angry at eachother.) Marlena (Some girl at the party who Hud "digs") and Jason (Rob's brother).

Hud, Jason, and Rob were talking about Rob having sex with Beth when the ground started shaking. The lights went out and they thought it was an earthquake. Everybody from the party went to the roof of the building (Beth left earlier because she was crying or something..). So they were on the roof and then all of a sudden, a building in the distance exploded, and you caught your first glimpse of the monster. Everybody was in shock until another one exploded and bombs started hitting other buildings around them. All the people from the party ran down to the streets. They were staring in awe when out of nowhere a big rock came from the sky and crashed in the street. When it stopped everybody realized it was the head of the Statue of Liberty. Rob and the other other main characters realized they had to get out of the city so they headed to a bridge (I forget which one) when they got there they were walking in a huge crowd of people across the bridge. While they were crossing the bridge Rob got a call from Beth and ran to the edge and answered, finding out shes trapped in her apartment. Jason was getting carried ahead with the crowd while all the others ran to Rob. The bridge is attacked and Jason is killed in the process, the rest ran away.

While the others were running the monster appears far down the block and the US Military behind them and they're caught in the middle. The monster is dropping little monster things which the military is battling. The group runs into the subway. They turn on the nightvision for the camera and they're attacked by a couple of the little monsters. They manage to fight them off a little while then they run away into a room. Marlena was bitten badly (we all know what that means!) they leave the room later and find a military hospital thing where they take Marlena into a small tent-like thing when they find out she's been bitten. They run away and you see her blood splatter against the sheets of the room. They get information that a helicopter is coming later that day then the military is bombing the whole city. They set off to Beth's apartment now just Rob, Lily, and Hud.

They see Beth's building leaning on another building. They climb many many sets of stairs on the other building then climb across to Beth's apartment. The is badly injured but alive. While leaving they kill a creature and while they're climbing back to the original building you get your first good look at the monster. It's general shape is that of a spider (the pictures on google are LIES!) you don't get a great look at it but you can tell it's like a spider with mulitple legs and such (Greater detail later). They make their way to the evacuation site where Lily takes the last spot on the first helicopter and the others get on another copter. While getting attacked by the monster. The helicopter flys above the city and you see the monster get bombed. They cheer in the copter then the monster lashes out and hits the copter and it crashes.

They appear in a park and the collect themselves. Moments later they realize, the monster is right behind them. Hud is slightly away from the others and is staring at the monster and the monster is staring back at him. It's face is what you mainly see, if you were to compare it to the human face (which you could quite easily) you would say that the mouth is slightly up more on the face, the eyes slanted, and when it opened it's mouth it looked like the Alien's second mouth (not the tongue thing just how the mouth of it was). Hud gets eaten and they grab the camera that he dropped on the floor and run under a small bridge. You hear the monster roar and military units shoot at it. You have no idea who's winning but the bridge explodes and rubble falls on them. Beth and Rob confess they love eachother then another blast kills them. At the end of the credits you have no idea what happened until a static voice says "It's still alive".

This was the first time I was in a cinema when the crowd actually booed. I thought the movie was quite good 8/10, maybe 9. My friends thought it was good except for the end. I thought the camera effect made the whole movie much better. I suggest you see this movie but be warned! The first 10-20 minutes are wicked boring.. Feel free to ask any questions about the movie.
